Each Chinese province has a capital. In addition, there are directly-administrated municipalities, which are cities that do not belong to a province. In total, the 33 most administratively important cities are tested in this quiz. These are not always synonymous with the largest cities.

Everyone has heard of Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, and recently also of Wuhan, but China has many other interesting provincial capitals with millions of inhabitants. Since China is the new big player on the world map, it is worth memorizing the names of these cities.

Via the Language menu, you can also learn the city names in Chinese characters (traditional and simplified) and even in Pinyin.
